MEET CRISTIE

Cristie is the owner and principle planner of Umbrella Events. Her favourite events are weddings, but she is no creature of habit! She loves to work on all sorts of events to keep things interesting! She thinks that everything goes when it comes to what you want for your event… no idea is too crazy! Cristie has been working in the event industry for over 5 years, with a background in hospitality and home decorating. Her visions and ideas set her apart from the rest, and will reflect in the overall outcome of your celebration. She can be trusted to make your event an affair to remember!

    Weddings

    We offer different packages for couple’s, depending on how involved you want us to be while you’re making all your plans! Check out a brief description of each package below, and say hello! to get a full pricelist!

    Month of Coordination:

    When you’ve made all the plans for your wedding, but want your only worry on your wedding to be that you’re having a good time! We’ll organize all of the plans you’ve made, and create a detailed timeline for your wedding day. Then we’ll be there all day on the wedding to make sure everything goes smoothly, including set up of your decor!

    Mid-Way Planning:

    When you want to team up with a pro to plan your wedding! We’ll work side by side with you to help find the right vendors, source the right decor, and keep all of your plans organized.

    Full Service Planning:

    You can’t or don’t want to plan your wedding for whatever reason… But- we do!! We’ll find out exactly what you want for your wedding, and do all the work for you! We’ll find the perfect venue, awesome vendors, and come up with the decor concept and theme.

    Hourly Consultations:

    When you just need a little time to ask some questions, and run your ideas by a pro. We’re happy to meet up to chat wedding!

    Rentals

  • THE LAVENDER VOW RENEWAL

    We had the pleasure of being involved in a cute, vintage styled, vow renewal last summer at the Tuscan Farm Gardens in Langley. Hillary and Darby were so lovely to work with. They knew they were perfect for one another on their first date. They married in 2011 and had their daughter Lael just over a year later.

    Although we have only been married for 3.5 years, the decision to renew our vows came at a time when we feel so grateful for so much in our life. With so many ups and downs in the 5.5 years we have known each other,  we decided that were not going to renew our marriage vows… we wrote new vows to one another with a complete understanding of love and the strength of our family. Despite everything, and more likely because of everything, “we still do”. Without a doubt, “we still do”.

  • THE EPIC DANCE PARTY WEDDING

    There are so many things we remember from Joris and Jo’s wedding.  Firstly, their back story!  Joris is from Holland, and Jo is Canadian.  The two of them met when they were both studying abroad in Australia.  On a flight for a quick trip on a break, fate would have Joris and Jo sitting side by side, talking and getting to know each other the whole way.  These two have continued to travel the world together, and have had some amazing adventures.

    Their wedding was fun and colourful, exactly our style. Check out the photos below, all courtesy of Dana Fisher Photography.

    The couple were married on Granville Island and the reception was held at Performance Works. Dinner, featuring pulled pork sandwiches (yum!!), was catered by Drew Cooks.  We were also delighted to get to work with Jane at Budget Blooms who took care of the colourful flowers for the event!

  • MATT’S 19TH BIRTHDAY PARTY

    We love planning all kinds of events, dinner parties and birthday parties are no exception.  No matter what size your event is, we are happy to help woo your guests!

    Recently we were asked to plan an elegant dinner party to celebrate Matt’s 19th Birthday party.  We loved planning this intimate affair for Matt’s friends and family, and we are very excited to share some photos of this evening!  All images courtesy of SoWedding!  They even brought the drone out for this one!

    Upon arrival, guests were welcomed to the party by the fabulous Karla Sax, who put together a fantastic jazz trio for the event.  Dinner was catered by Fiesta Creative Catering, who served a gorgeous buffet meal inspired by West Coast ingredients.  Illusionist Kelvin Ng finished up the formal portion of the dinner party with a spectacular magic show. Guests proceeded to sing Karaoke and party with Matt for the remainder of the evening.
